Social networking or social media could be used in many ways such as, connecting with others, promoting your brand, or for entertainment. In the past, social media was mainly used for fun, but now social media can be used for a variety of things. Langfitt talks about how LinkedIn is a network of professionals that help job recruiters find potential candidates for companies.

Social media plays a huge role in many businesses because it help entrepreneurs or companies to promote their products and themselves. It also provides companies with a way to send real time financial data to investors, which is very helpful to determine the financial success of the company. Social media also helps people connect with others to build a bigger network. (Such as Facebook and LinkedIn)

Though there are many positive things about social media, there is also a dark side to it. In Polansky's article, Facebook Marketplace is used for scamming and exploiting others. There are posts to sell products, such as, RVs and more, however there is never a physical product to be seen and middleman to go through the purchase.

I feel that social media will be able to evolve into something bigger that could help individuals and businesses do much more than just promoting themselves. Also, I feel that there will also be developments to counter the exploitation and fake news that are spreading around on multiple social media sites.
