Wiki so Far

For my wiki, I have not contributed yet however, I am working on creating a wiki page dedicated to game streaming sites, such as Mixer and Twitch and how they became so popular. As of now, my research consists of how professional e-sports players have left the e-sports scene to start streaming as a full-time job, bringing viewers with them and building a huge following. I will also be talking about how these streaming services allow streamers to generate revenue for themselves to make an income and build a brand for themselves.

P2P

File sharing is the action of transmitting files legally or illegally through a computer, network or other means of transfer. P2P file sharing, also known as peer to peer file sharing is almost the same as file sharing except it involves peer to peer file transfer software, such as Vuze and BitTorrent.

Some examples of P2P file-sharing would include uploading pirated movies and games for illegal downloads through torrents, a type of file that stores metadata or data about data and contains trackers to help the user download the file through different addresses, thus forming the complete file. One software that allows users to do this is BitTorrent. Bram Cohen, the creator of BitTorrent first created it as a way to share software through Linux users, but it quickly became one of the most used torrent software for movies and television shows. From all this illegal traffic, there have been some security measures taken to tackle torrenting illegal files.
