Blog vs Wiki

Blogs and wikis are two of the most popular ways to create, contribute, and publish content to the web. Though they do accomplish similar aspects to creating content, the way that blogs and wikis differ is that blogs have posts created by the owner of the blog, whereas wikis have a few to even many contributors editing one wiki page. One of the most well-known wikis is Wikipedia. Back when Wikipedia first started, it was an empty book waiting to be filled with the data that it contains now.

In today's society, blogs and wikis help authors get their work or thoughts on a topic out into the web. Blogs are sometimes used as a way to rant or destress about something, where others can join in the comments to express similar or opposite feelings. In "Wal-Mart Tastemakers Writers Unfiltered Blog", a Walmart employee creates a blog to express their feelings about the products that Walmart offers.

In "More on How to Build Your Own Wikipedia", Tony Pagliarulo utilized wikis to document and store his code for real-time editing for his team, thus increasing time efficiency on his projects. Wikis are a great way to collaborate with team members because everyone can access it once and it provides useful design documents that team members can follow throughout the use of the wiki if provided. There are many ways that wikis are utilized, but one which I have not seen is an online marketplace.
