Privacy

With the technology of today, new media has been playing a huge role in many people's lives. People are now able to connect with others from around the globe with the click of a button. Though this is extremely convenient, this convenience comes at a cost. The internet and new media is such an open space that many people can take advantage of it. "Hackers" as many people call them are individuals that advantage of the internet to steal confidential information from others. They do this by creating phishing sites or even having automated callers collect information from people.
With these risks involved, people have created software to counter these risks and protect our confidentiality and privacy. Mobile companies are notifying people of scam calls when they are suspected of receiving a false call and many software companies are creating plug-ins to counter malicious sites.
As new media continues to develop, we will see more people creating better ways to protect our privacy and confidentiality, so it is best to always have safety measures before handing away our private data.

  1. I do agree that people are susceptible to hackers with the kind of information that is accessible today. There are "good" and "bad" hackers. "Good" hackers also known as the "white hat" hackers who hack for a seemingly good cause. They do not materialistically benefit from entering vulnerable systems. Their counterparts are "Bad" hackers, "Black hats". They are the ones that you are referring to in this post. They cause problems in systems and use the information acquired for heinous things.
